Apple 13-inch MacBook Pro M2 Overview
Design and Display
Unlike the M2 MacBook Air, the 13-inch MacBook Pro did not get a redesign. It has the same design that Apple has been using since 2016. The old M1 MacBook Pro and the new M2 MacBook Pro are therefore visually indistinguishable.
That means it has the same thick bezels around the screen, has the same Magic Keyboard, and has the same Touch Bar, a thin touchscreen Retina display above the keyboard. The ports are also the same, with two thunderbolt ports on the right and a 3.5mm headphone jack on the left.
The laptop also does not get Apple’s MagSafe charging port, which made a comeback on the MacBook Air M2.
Anyway, the laptop is still very lightweight and well built with an all-aluminium enclosure. Inside the laptop is a fan that helps cool down the MacBook, which the M2 MacBook Air lacks.

Display
The MacBook Pro 13 2022 has the same 13.3-inch Retina LCD display with a brightness of 500 nits. The panel has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels and supports True Tone technology.
Hardware
Along with the MacBook Air, the MacBook Pro 13 is also the first to be equipped with an M2 chip, Apple’s second generation M series SoC.
The M2 features an 8-core CPU (4 performance and 4 efficiency cores) and 10-core GPU. The previous MacBook Pro 13 with M1 had an 8-core GPU.
Built on a 5nm technology, the M2 chip has over 20 billion transistors, which is 25 percent more than M1, and a 100GB/s of unified memory bandwidth, which is 50% more than M1. In addition, it has a faster Neural Engine and supports up to 24GB of fast unified memory.
Apple says M2 features a next-generation media engine and a powerful ProRes video engine for hardware-accelerated encode and decode, allowing systems with M2 to play back more streams of 4K and 8K video than before.
The MacBook can be configured to have 8GB, 16GB, or 24GB of unified memory (RAM) and 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB of SSD. According to sources, the base model with a 256GB SSD has a much slower SSD read/write speed than the M1 MacBook Pro, so you might want to avoid it.
Since this laptop has a fan in it, which Apple calls an active cooling system, the sustained performance of the MacBook Pro 13 should be better than the MacBook Air.
The speakers on the 13-inch MacBook Pro now support Spatial Audio and the headphone jack now has advanced support for high-impedance headphones. Unlike the M2 MacBook Air, the webcam did not see any upgrades on the M2 MacBook Pro 13 as it has the same 720p HD camera.
Battery
The laptop comes with a 58.2Wh battery. Apple claims that the MacBook Pro 13 M2 has a battery life of up to 20 hours. And it now comes with a 67W USB-C power adapter (the M1 2020 MacBook Pro 13 had a 61W power adapter).
