Redmi Note 12 5G with Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 Expected to Launch in Nepal Soon

In early January 2023, Xiaomi held an event in India to launch its Redmi Note 12 series. And Xiaomi Nepal is expected to bring the Redmi Note 12 5G, the most affordable of the series, to Nepal very soon.

As before, Xiaomi first released the series in China before expanding to other countries. Debuted on October 27, 2022, in China, the Redmi Note 12 series comprised the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, Redmi Note 12 Pro+, and Redmi Note 12 Explorer (aka Discovery), followed by the addition of the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition two months later.

Later on January 5, 2023, Xiaomi officially launched the Redmi Note 12 series outside of China by launching it in India. The series included Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, and Redmi Note 12 Pro+.

Although the Note 12 Pro versions are the same, the Redmi Note 12 model launched in India has a couple of differences compared to the one released in China. The Chinese variant does not support a microSD card, has no ultrawide camera, and has an 8MP front camera.

Strangely, Xiaomi is once again gearing up for a launch event on March 23, 2023, to showcase the already-known Redmi Note 12 series. Unlike the previous events, this launch will be held online and the company has not yet disclosed the country. It appears that the debut in India was not the global launch as initially thought.

Anyway, in this article, we will delve into the specifications and features of the Redmi Note 12 5G, which is expected to be released in the Nepali market soon.

Redmi Note 12 5G Overview

Design

The Redmi Note 12 5G has a plastic frame and back and is available in three color variants: frosted green, matte black, and mystique blue.

The back has three camera rings and a flash, all housed on a transparent island. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack, IR blaster, and mic on the top side of the device.

Likewise, the bottom side has a speaker, a USB-C port, and a primary mic. The fingerprint sensor is embedded in the power button located on the right side of the phone, below the volume buttons.

Display

It features a 6.67-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate. The 120Hz refresh rate is an upgrade from Redmi Note 11‘s 90Hz.

The display has a punch-hole design notch for the front camera. Xiaomi says it has a peak brightness of 1200 nits. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

Hardware

The Redmi Note 12 is equipped with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset. Built on a 6nm process technology, the octa-core processor features two Cortex-A78 cores at up to 2.0GHz, six Cortex-A55 cores at up to 1.8GHz, and an Adreno 619 GPU.

The smartphone comes with 128GB UFS 2.2 storage and 4/6GB of LPDDR4X RAM. The global variant of the phone supports a microSD card for storage expansion, whereas the Chinese variant does not.

Camera

It has a triple camera setup at the rear comprising a 48MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 2MP macro camera. The Chinese Redmi Note 12 does not feature an ultrawide camera.

The front has a 13MP selfie camera. Both the front and back cameras of the phone can shoot up to 1080p video at 30fps.

Battery and OS

Redmi Note 12 is fueled by a 5000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. The supported charger is provided with the phone.

Out of the box, the smartphone boots on MIUI 13 based on Android 13. Xiaomi promises two Android OS upgrades and four years of security updates.

Redmi Note 12 Price in Nepal and Availability

The Redmi Note 12 5G price in Nepal is expected to start around Rs. 30,000. The official price will be revealed when the phone is launched in Nepal shortly.
